If you have been drinking alcohol and get behind the wheel, you now run a greater risk of having your driver's license revoked more quickly. From 1 June 2023, the threshold value for immediate withdrawal of the driving license will be reduced from 1.5 per mille to 1.2 per mille. Drivers with a blood alcohol level of more than 1.2 will have to surrender their driving license for 15 days.
The Federal Minister of Mobility, Georges Gilkinet (Ecolo), has announced in Parliament that stricter measures will be taken for drivers who drive under the influence. The driver's license can now be immediately revoked with a blood alcohol content of 1.2. Previously, this limit was 1.5 per mille.
With the help of our alcohol testers you can easily perform a self-test to determine how much alcohol you have consumed.
PLEASE NOTE: this change has nothing to do with the permitted alcohol limit, which is still unchanged at 0.5‰.
